How do professionals clean dryer vents?

How do you clean the inside of a dryer?

  • Inspect the back of your dryer - Check for lint build up at the back of your dryer. If you find lint insure that the dryer vent pipe is properly connected to your dryer.

  • Check the lint trap – Disassemble the lint trap inside your dryer and vacuum it completely.

  • Turn your dryer on – While the dryer is running and blowing air out clean the vent pipe from the outside of your home.

How do you clean the dryer vent from outside?

  • Clean the vent pipe – Vent pipes are typically 4 inches in diameter. Direct a 4 inch rotating brush through your entire vent pipe until it reaches your dryer. Then while the brush is rotating and the dryer is blowing air out, pull the brush out along with all the lint from your vent pipe.

  • Repeat - Repeat this process until there is no longer any lint being pulled out of your dryer vent.

  • Clean up – Clean up the lint that is removed from your dryer vent pipe.
